The Travel Diet: Different Pointe of View Winemaker Dinner

Last week I had the opportunity to experience one of the winemaker series of dinners at the four diamond Different Pointe of View restaurant at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs.  Unlike other wine dinners I’ve done in the Valley, the event here is more intimate, open to just 12 lucky foodies, who get a front row seat at the chef’s table to watch Chef Anthony DeMuro cook up a four-course dinner created specifically to match the wines of the evening.

All this scallop needs is a glass of Sauvignon Blanc

Chef DeMuro defies the notion of “never trust a skinny chef”.  He tries to keep his dishes on the lighter side and focuses on healthy ingredients.

“Super foods have been and continue to be hugely popular in the food scene,” said Chef DeMuro. “I’ll be featuring ingredients like quinoa and kale on the Insider’s View dinner menus and will share my favorite secrets to bringing out the best flavors of each super food.”

For Fitglobetrotters who wish to lighten the meal even more, the chef can accommodate special requests like no meat, gluten-free, dairy-free or simply asking for sauces and dressings on the side.

The next and final dinner is slated for May 16 and features Aquinas Winery.   Owner Donny Sebastiani will be on hand to enlighten the group about his family’s portfolio of wines that are sourced from regions in Napa Valley, Sonoma Coast, Clarksburg and Paso Robles.  The dinner begins at 6:15 p.m. with a wine reception in the Terrace Room.  The wine dinner is $99/person and reservations are required .
